A127 Shoeburyness

This project involved the replacement of approximately 30km of 36” medium pressure gas mains running alongside the dual carriageway into London, allowing gas pressure to be upgraded to two bars.

There were significant traffic management considerations including public and operative safety with vehicles passing at speed close to the works. The gas main crossed under the A127 eight times, potentially leading to significant transport disruption if the road had been closed.

Forefront Utilities worked at night to minimise the traffic management and safety risks, and provided specialist engineering to allow four meter deep excavation shafts.  We tunnelled under the A127 replacing the gas main with no disruption to traffic flow.
