Forefront Utilities repaired and serviced all the emergency contingency gas shut off valves throughout the City of London over a two-year period.

High profile locations included Buckingham Palace, the House of Commons and Trafalgar Square, where some of the valves had not been touched for over 40 years. This work involved deep excavation of up to four metres to determine exact valve locations amid tight security checks on our operators.

We used the latest suction excavation technology to minimise hole sizes and maximise the safety of gas operation given the high level of other utilities underground. Specific gas teams were deployed for the length of the contract.
