We are delighted that our London Medium Pressure project to replace old steel mains in Fulham’s King’s Road was delivered on schedule at the end of October.

This complex and demanding project has already shown its mettle, with the King’s Road opening two weeks ahead of schedule in mid September 2016. The road was originally closed to allow the replacement of three 36” medium pressure steel pipes across Stanley Bridge, using two medium pressure (MP) and one intermediate pressure (IP). Following this, the existing 36” cast iron mains either side of the bridge were inserted with 630mm MP/IP and with 800mm MP PE (the first time this has been used on the network). During the delivery itself, as well as putting pipe in the ground, we had to remodel multiple sets of traffic lights and remove various items of street furniture. This was given an added twist as we had to provide TM during Chelsea football matches and the 100-mile Ride London event. It’s been an extremely demanding project but we’re looking forward to working on the next phase, Fulham Road in 2017.
